Job summary

Flock Safety is seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer to support the Installer App API and Web App, helping scale as daily usage grows. You will work on cloud-native back-end systems, event-driven architectures, and integrations with third-party APIs to improve reliability and performance.

The position emphasizes collaboration, ownership, and delivering impact across the safety product stack. Starting salary ranges from $170,000 to $190,000, plus stock options and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL databases.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Fullstack Engineer working on Flock’s Installer App API and Web App, you will support, maintain, and improve our product as our user base continues to grow. With the Installer Android app currently being used daily by tech installers, we need a Senior Software Engineer who can help ensure its ongoing success. This opportunity is perfect for a talented cloud developer who has consumer empathy and wants to work on a project that will directly impact Flock’s growth metrics and ultimate success.

Qualifications

• Experience in back‑end development with an emphasis on cloud development and distributed systems – we leverage AWS
• Implemented and managed asynchronous messaging systems for event‑driven architectures (SQS/SNS, EventBridge, etc.)
• Knowledgeable with SQL databases (PostgreSQL)
• Able to improve scalability and performance as we continue to grow
• Comfortable working with C‑style languages and frameworks like Typescript and NodeJS
• Familiarity with integrating third‑party APIs

90‑Day Plan

The First 30 Days

• Day 1 Impact: Onboard and complete a small push of code.
• Walkthrough of Flock Safety app backend
• Walkthrough of Flock Safety iOS app
• Walkthrough of Flock Safety Android app
• Complete six tickets in the first 30 days
• Review PR practices
• Begin working on CJIS certification

The First 60 Days

• Perform role with decreased need for guidance; take ownership of tasks
• Come up with options of solutions instead of “what should I do?”
• Complete medium sized tasks with little support; contribute work in small shippable chunks
• High level understanding of the features we are working on
• Write up at least one ticket
• Understand the software design philosophies being used
• Be comfortable navigating through the code base
• Engaged during technical conversations to increase quality of input
• Start monitoring of logs and dashboards

90 Days & Beyond

• Acceleration in ramp up time when working on a new ticket
• Perform role with little guidance with transparency
• Comfortable picking up engineering tasks of larger size and more ambiguity
• Communicate across multiple teams to solve problems efficiently
• Contribute ideas in Design Reviews and Refinements, for how we build better software
• Start leading in PR reviews
• Participate in software engineering demo day by presenting a topic that you worked on in the last few months

Salary & Equity

Starting salary range: $170,000–$190,000. Salary is determined by job‑related experience, education/training, and market indicators. Base salary is discussed in the first interview. In this role, you will also receive Flock Safety Stock Options.
