Job summary

Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Lending Tech team is seeking an experienced lead backend developer to architect and deliver scalable software across multiple Lending lines. You will guide front-end and back-end components, enforce best practices, and mentor junior engineers in a fast-paced environment.

You will impact origination, underwriting, asset management, and risk calculations while integrating modern tech stacks and secure development standards.

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of proven Java 11+ development experience in modern tech stack for Spring Boot and RESTful microservices.
  • Solid development experience in Angular web applications.
  • Strong knowledge in relational or document-based databases such as Sybase, DB2, SQL Server, MongoDB or Elasticsearch.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and optimize application performance.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performance engineering teams.
  • Fluent in English with Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and vision to design and develop a scalable platform to support multiple Lending business lines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Oversee the execution of the project, ensuring quality and on-time delivery of front end and back-end components
  • Mentorship of junior team members and code review expertise.
  • Ability to drive technical initiatives and provide leadership.
  • Actively contributes to agile squad ceremonies and practices.
  • Apply software engineering best practices, including code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration.

Overview

Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Lending Tech team needs an experienced lead backend developer to help build leading-edge and scalable systems to support multiple business verticals supporting origination, underwriting, asset management, business operations, market insights, loan pricing, and risk calculations.

What You’ll Do In The Role

What You’ll Bring To The Role

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $165,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
