Job summary

Capital One in Chicago is looking for a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead a portfolio of distributed microservices and full‑stack systems, guiding a team of developers to deliver cloud-based solutions that meet regulatory needs.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product managers, and work with JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go, leveraging Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS to drive impactful experiences for millions of Americans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Minimum 4 years of people management experience.
• At least 1 year of cloud computing experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience with distributed microservices and full-stack systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
• Mentor engineers, review code, and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions.
• Stay current with tech trends and participate in internal & external technology communities.
