Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Full Stack Engineer 4 to drive major transformation in our technology space. You will lead a portfolio of microservices and full stack systems, collaborating with product managers and engineers to deliver cloud-based solutions for millions of customers.

You will use Java, Python, AWS, and modern open source tools, mentor engineers, establish coding standards, and influence long-term technology strategy in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
• At least 4 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 7+ years of experience coding with more than two of the following: Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, Scala
• 3+ years of experience with database management systems
• 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or cloud-based productivity tools or virtualization technologies
• 4+ years of experience contributing to open source frameworks
• 3+ years of experience creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks
• 3+ years of experience using Git-based version-control systems
• 3+ years of experience troubleshooting cloud environments
• Experience with interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity
• Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts
• Experience establishing and enforcing coding standards and design patterns

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
• Mentor engineers and participate in tech communities.
• Deliver robust cloud-based solutions that empower millions of users.
• Utilize Java, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript and AWS tools.
• Provide technical leadership and set standards for design, development, and operations.
• Define service boundaries and reusable frameworks with architects.
• Identify areas for refactoring to reduce technical debt and improve performance.
• Influence long-term technology strategy in a fast-paced environment.
