Senior Full Stack Engineer (Denver, Seattle)

Full Time Professional Denver, CO, US

Salary Range: $140,000.00 To $170,000.00 Annually

Senior Full Stack Engineer

This is a full-time, hybrid role based in the Denver or Seattle metro area. Employees are expected to work in person from their local Housing Connector office one day per week.

About Housing Connector

Housing Connector is a tech-for-good nonprofit transforming how communities use the private housing market to address homelessness. We partner with property owners and managers to reduce barriers that prevent people from accessing housing, while providing the financial and resident support that gives housing providers confidence to open more homes to people who need them.

Our model brings together property partners, community organizations, government, philanthropy, and technology to create simpler, more scalable pathways to housing. What started in Seattle in 2019 has grown into a multi-market organization with an ambitious vision: to deliver simple and scalable solutions until every person has a home.

Position Overview

Housing Connector is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to build and scale the customer-facing products that power our work. You will join a small engineering team at an important stage: our platform already supports thousands of renters, community organizations, and property partners, each with different needs and experiences.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who can independently take complex product work from design through release. You will build across the stack, including React-based web & mobile apps, GraphQL & MCP APIs, and org-wide data models . You will work closely with our technical lead, product, and design partners to make thoughtful tradeoffs and turn an ambitious roadmap into reliable, accessible software.

What You Will Do
  • Design, build, test, release, and operate customer-facing product features across the frontends, APIs, and data layer.
  • Develop accessible, responsive web & mobile experiences using React and TypeScript.
  • Extend a GraphQL API and PostgreSQL database schema s t o support evolving product needs and future growth.
  • Take ownership of defined product areas, making sound technical decisions and carrying work from initial scoping through production support.
  • Partner with product and design throughout discovery and development to understand user needs, explore solutions, clarify requirements, and balance delivery speed, technical quality, and long-term maintainability.
  • Create realistic estimates, surface delivery risks early, and communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Strengthen testing, release, and documentation practices within the areas you own so the codebase is reliable and easier for future engineers to learn and extend.
  • Review code and contribute to shared application-development patterns and standards as the engineering team grows.
  • Work with the technical lead on technology upgrades, infrastructure decisions, security, and improvements to the broader engineering environment.
  • Protect sensitive client and partner information by embedding privacy and security into everyday engineering decisions.
What We Are Looking For
  • Demonstrated ability to independently deliver complex, production-ready web applications across the frontend and backend, make sound technical decisions, and own work from initial design through release and ongoing improvement.
  • Strong, current hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, and SQL.
  • Experience designing and evolving APIs, database schemas, and data models, with the judgment to explain tradeoffs and anticipate future needs.
  • Experience creating effective automated testing, including end-to-end tests, and using testing and analytics to support reliable releases.
  • A practical understanding of data privacy, application security, and secure development practices, especially when working with sensitive information.
  • Experience building accessible digital products and applying accessibility standards throughout implementation.
  • Ability to quickly understand an unfamiliar codebase, work constructively alongside its existing authors, and improve it without creating unnecessary disruption.
  • Sound judgment, intellectual honesty, and the ability to work independently in a small team where priorities may shift and not every problem has an established playbook.
  • Clear communication and a collaborative approach to working with engineering, product, design, and non-technical partners.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with GraphQL , API gateways, Postgres, and Supabas e (or another BaaS) .
  • Experience with Expo and React Native.
  • Experience with LLM-generated code, agent orchestration, and slop mitigation practices.
  • Experience on a small engineering team where everyone shares responsibility for delivery, operations, and improving team practices.
  • Mobile-web design experience, UX design sensibility, and native iOS or Android development experience.
  • Experience with analytics instrumentation, QA practices, and product documentation.
  • Experience working with sensitive or regulated data environments.
What Success Looks Like
  • You independently deliver meaningful, production-ready features across the platform, helping the team move faster and learn from users.
  • The product areas you own are reliable, secure, well tested, documented, and easier for others to maintain and extend.
  • Your technical judgment, estimates, and communication improve product delivery and strengthen the team’s engineering practices.
