Job summary

Stellic is recruiting a full‑stack engineer to drive architecture upgrades and uplift the engineering team’s ability to deliver new product capabilities. You will design scalable, full‑stack solutions, build robust APIs, and mentor peers while collaborating with founders and product managers.

Based in the Bay Area with a hybrid model (3 days in‑office), you will work on enterprise-grade education technology and data platforms, impacting millions of students and institutions worldwide.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer.
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to autonomously lead complex implementations.

  • Impeccable communication with product, design, and customer-facing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with founders and product managers to understand the why behind each capability in the platform.
  • Help drive alignment on prioritization of engineering-driven priorities alongside product priorities.
  • Design and lead scalable, full-stack solutions for mission-critical enterprise applications.
  • Build and maintain APIs to handle complex business logic and data flows.
  • Develop and optimize database schemas and queries for large data volumes.
  • Identify abstractions to improve performance and reliability of systems.
  • Mentor other engineers in best practices and code quality.
  • Design robust testing strategies and implement reliable test suites.

Role Overview

We need an experienced full‑stack engineer to lead us into the future by driving upgrades to our existing architecture while up‑leveling our engineering team’s ability to delight users with new product capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with founders and product managers to understand the why behind each capability in the platform.
  • Help drive alignment on the prioritization of engineering‑driven priorities alongside product priorities.
  • Design and lead the implementation of scalable, full‑stack solutions for mission‑critical enterprise applications.
  • Build and maintain clean, ergonomic APIs to handle complex business logic and data flows.
  • Develop and optimize database schemas and queries to process terabytes of data efficiently.
  • Identify and introduce abstractions to increase the performance and reliability of our systems.
  • Up‑level our general engineering rigor and maturity by mentoring other engineers in best practices, design patterns, and code quality.
  • Ensure a high degree of quality by designing robust testing strategies and implementing suites of reliable tests.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a full‑stack engineer operating at scale.
  • Strong ownership mindset and the ability to autonomously lead and drive complex implementations.
  • Deep curiosity, customer empathy, and commitment to engineering as a craft.
  • Ability to plan, estimate, and manage the technical aspects of project execution and delivery.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to mentor junior developers.
  • Impeccable communication skills for collaborating with product, design, and customer‑facing teams.
Deep Technical Experience
  • Full‑stack engineering using high‑level programming languages and frameworks (Python/Django, AngularJS, React)
  • ORMs, RESTful APIs, background jobs, real‑time streaming (DRF, Celery, Channels)
  • Single‑ and multi‑tenant architectures.
  • Cloud deployment and hyperscalers (AWS).
  • Designing and optimizing SQL databases and complex SQL queries (PostgreSQL).
  • Asynchronous / event‑based programming, message / event queues.
  • API design, documentation, and versioning strategies.
  • Software testing, CI/CD practices, observability (AWS CodeDeploy, Sentry, Grafana, Prometheus).

Compensation

Base salary: $160,000–$200,000 (plus equity).

Location

Bay Area. Candidates must be willing to work in‑office 3 days per week as part of our hybrid work culture.
