Job summary

Citi in Tampa, FL is seeking an Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst to contribute to the design and implementation of new and revised application systems. You will collaborate with the Technology team on feasibility, planning, development, testing, and production support across business lines.

Ideal candidates have 5–8 years of experience in application development, strong Java/Kafka/MongoDB and microservices skills, and proven project leadership.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of relevant experience in application development or systems analysis.
• Extensive experience in system analysis and programming of software applications.
• Experience managing and implementing successful projects.
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least one area of application development.
• Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
• Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tasks related to feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, risk technology, application development, model development, and establish and implement new or revised applications systems and programs to meet specific business needs or user areas.
• Monitor and control all phases of the development process and analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation as well as provide user and operational support to business users.
• Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of application development to analyze complex problems/issues, provide evaluation of business process, system process, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgement.
• Recommend and develop security measures in post‑implementation analysis of business usage to ensure successful system design and functionality.
• Consult with users/clients and other technology groups on issues, recommend advanced programming solutions, and install and assist customer exposure systems.
• Ensure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes.
• Operate with a limited level of direct supervision and exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
• Serve as advisor or coach to mid‑level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary.
• Act as SME to senior stakeholders and/or other team members.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

The Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to application systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities

Technical Skills

• Java, Kafka, MongoDB, Spring WebFlux, Reactive Frameworks, Kubernetes, Docker, ElasticSearch.
• Java functional programming, Spring Boot libraries, Java reactive frameworks; must have TDD and BDD style development.
• Microservices design and development.
• Load balancing, caching, database optimization, parallel processing, and concurrency.
• Certification in cloud technologies and Java certification is an added advantage.

Recommended Qualifications
