McKesson Pharmacy Systems (MPS) seeks a Senior Full Stack AI Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy cloud-based pharmacy tech solutions using Java, Angular, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Azure, and AI-assisted tooling.

You will build REST APIs, microservices, and AI-native workflows, mentor engineers, and collaborate in an Agile environment across product, architecture, and operations. This hybrid role also includes onsite Las Colinas days with remote work, offering competitive compensation.

ABOUT THE ROLE

McKesson Pharmacy Systems (MPS) is seeking a Senior Full Stack AI Software Engineer to help build and modernize the next generation of pharmacy technology solutions. In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy cloud-based applications using Java, Angular, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Azure, and modern AI-assisted engineering tools. Working closely with product managers, architects, and engineering teams, you will play a key role in delivering scalable, secure, and highly reliable software solutions that support critical pharmacy operations using an AI-native SDLC methodology.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL.
• Build and maintain REST APIs and microservices using modern architecture principles and OpenAPI/Swagger standards.
• Leverage approved AI development tools, including GitHub Copilot and Claude, to improve engineering productivity, code quality, testing coverage and efficiency.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education & Typical Experience or Equivalent Combination Degree or equivalent experience and typically requires 7+ years of relevant software engineering experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 7+ years of software development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful API development.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools and workflows.
• Experience developing web applications using Angular, React, Vue, Next.js, or similar JavaScript frameworks.
• Robust experience designing low-latency agent execution looks that natively manage multi-step tool execution (harness, orchestrator concepts).
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases, including PostgreSQL.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies such as Kafka.
• Experience with source control, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience developing and executing automated tests.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and production support skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• Experience with Azure cloud services and cloud-native application development.
• Experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
• Experience using ORM technologies such as Hibernate or JPA.
• Familiarity with Redis or other caching technologies.
• Experience with feature management tools such as LaunchDarkly or Optimizely.
• Experience with database migration tools such as Liquibase or Flyway.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools, including Dynatrace.
• Experience working with distributed tracing, metrics, and structured logging.
• Previous experience in healthcare, pharmacy, or highly regulated industries.

WORK ARRANGEMENT

This is a hybrid position. The selected candidate will work onsite at our Las Colinas office a minimum of two days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely. In-office days may vary based on business and team needs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

General office work requiring extended periods of sitting, computer use, communication, and collaboration in both virtual and in-person environments.

COMPENSATION

We are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson as part of our Total Rewards. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position $126,000 - $210,000
