Job summary

Shield AI seeks a Staff Fuel System Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and fielding of a next‑generation aircraft system for Project Ranger. You will serve as the Responsible Engineer for the fuel system, owning requirements, architecture, interfaces, hardware, and technical decisions from concept through deployment.

You will design, size, and integrate tanks, pumps, valves, plumbing, venting, pressurization, filtration, level sensing, and related hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years in aerospace fuel systems or related aircraft systems.
• Strong thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer knowledge.
• Experience with fuel system design: tanks, pumps, venting, cavitation, transient flow.
• Proficiency in Python for analysis and model correlation.
• U.S. Citizenship with active security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Owns requirements, architecture, interfaces, hardware, and decisions from concept to deployment.
• Design, size, and integrate fuel tanks, pumps, valves, plumbing, venting, pressurization, filtration, level sensing.
• Analyze fuel system performance across operating envelope: pressure, flow, vapor pressure, cavitation, thermal effects.
• Lead design reviews, supplier engagements, and hardware procurement for fuel system.
• Plan and execute testing at subsystem and vehicle level, including data acquisition.
• Analyze flight data to validate performance and drive improvements.
• Lead root-cause investigations and develop corrective actions.
• Collaborate with propulsion, vehicle teams, and flight ops during build and flight.
