Job summary

Databricks Canada is seeking a frontend-focused software engineer to design and build high-performance dashboard experiences, including SQL datasets, custom calculations, and semantic modeling.

You will collaborate with design and product to translate analytic concepts into polished dashboard experiences, drive innovation, and own frontend development for core workflows with a focus on usability, performance, and accessibility.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building frontend and backend systems.
• Expertise in modern frontend with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React.
• Deep understanding of UX, accessibility, and responsive design for data-heavy interfaces.
• Experience designing scalable systems and abstractions for interactive dashboards.
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and deliver user-facing features.
• Experience building dashboards, analytics, data exploration, or BI tools is a plus.
• Familiarity with SQL authoring, semantic modeling, or related workflows is a plus.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, or Kubernetes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and build dashboard experiences for creating and editing dashboards and the data behind them.
• Partner with design/product to translate analytic concepts into dashboard experiences.
• Drive innovation in how users interact with data at scale.
• Own frontend development for core dashboard workflows with usability, performance, accessibility, reliability.
• Shape architecture and platform foundations to support dashboarding use cases.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to define APIs, data models, contracts for interactive dashboards.
