Nelnet is seeking a Senior Engineer to act as hands-on developer and technical leader. You will architect front-end systems, mentor teammates, and collaborate across teams to deliver banking‑oriented web, mobile, and API‑driven products.

You will work with React/Next.js, HTML/CSS, and TypeScript, shaping architecture, driving quality, and contributing to CI/CD pipelines in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development.
• 2+ years with React/Next.js and modern JS frameworks.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript (ES6+).
• Experience architecting API-driven microservices.
• Familiarity with JS tooling (NPM, Webpack).
• Ability to build responsive, cross‑browser UIs.
• Hands-on testing: unit, integration, and end-to-end (Jest).
• CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins or CircleCI.
• Security‑first mindset in a regulated environment.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop front-end systems powering complex web applications (React, Next.js).
• Collaborate with UI/UX and product teams to shape features and roadmap.
• Coordinate with third-party services and platforms.
• Participate in planning, scoping, and road-mapping sessions.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor teammates, and promote best practices.
