Job summary

CBS Sports Digital in Nashville is seeking a Senior Front End Engineer to join the Content Management team. You will build fast, accessible web experiences for CBSSports.com and apps, collaborating with design and product to turn ideas into production-ready features.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building scalable, production-grade web applications with React and Next.js.
• Experience consuming APIs (REST and GraphQL), including Apollo Client.
• Experience with monorepo tooling and workflows (Turborepo, Nx).
• Experience with component libraries or design systems and with testing front-end code (unit, integration, end-to-end).
• Working knowledge of Node.js for server-side rendering and API layers.
• Strong debugging and performance troubleshooting skills, including monitoring tools.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Passion for sports and a dedication to creating exceptional fan experiences.

Responsibilities

• Build Front-End Features: Design and ship production-grade features for web using React, Next.js, and TypeScript, from prototype through launch.
• Own Performance: Improve and protect Core Web Vitals through rendering strategy, code splitting, lazy loading, and image optimization.
• Contribute to Standards: Build and evolve reusable components and shared patterns that scale across the organization.
• Collaborate and Prototype: Work with design and product to quickly design, develop, and test solutions to key business challenges.
• Raise the Bar on Code Quality: Review code for style, testability, accessibility, and efficiency, and mentor engineers on front-end best practices.
• Type Safety: Contribute to TypeScript standards (strict mode, shared types, codegen).
• Monorepo Workflows: Use monorepo tooling to support build, test, and deploy across web apps.
• Operational Excellence: Build with reliability in mind, including testing and front-end monitoring.
• Document: Contribute clear documentation and diagrams for onboarding engineers.
• Use AI Tools: Leverage AI tools to speed up workflow and share learnings with the team.
