Overview

Responsibilities

• Define and document functional requirements
• Design, simulate, and implement FPGA-based digital signal processing, e.g., baseband signal processing
• Design FPGA-based circuit card assemblies using schematic capture
• Develop hardware prototypes, debug, and test using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, logic analyzers, etc.
• Define and coordinate software tasks related to hardware-software interfaces within FPGA-based circuit card assemblies

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience
• Skilled at translating system-level requirements to FPGA solutions
• Proficiency with Xilinx FPGA design flows using ISE and Vivado; VHDL is essential
• Experience with full FPGA design process: simulation, synthesis, implementation, timing closure
• Recent experience with Xilinx 7 series devices
• Expertise in FPGA-based real-time DSP: filters, NCO, Hilbert transforms, FFT, waveform generation
• Experience with FPGA hardware interfaces for RF sampling and waveform generation
• Experience with version control tools and designing reusable circuits
• Design and implement test fixtures and test plans at chip and board level
• Knowledge of high-speed memory and bus interfaces like PCIe, DDR3
• Strong understanding of software-hardware interaction, e.g., Linux host/PCIe endpoint
• Understanding of digital signal processing hardware architectures and FMC interfacing
• Familiarity with high-speed PCB layout
• Excellent communication skills; US citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance
• Willingness to travel

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with RF system design, high power, and high-speed communication transmissions
• Matlab/Simulink modeling and FPGA implementation
• High-level programming in C and Linux environment for FPGA testing
• Understanding of time synchronization standards like IEEE-1588
