Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior FP&A Data Analyst to transform complex financial and operational data into actionable insights across our global energy portfolio. You will work at the intersection of finance, data analytics, and business strategy, helping to identify drivers behind performance and forecasts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, MIS, Data Analytics, Business, Economics or related field.
• Strong Power BI data modeling and dashboard experience.
• Proficiency in planning/forecasting platforms (BPC, Anaplan, Oracle, SAP or similar).
• Understanding of GAAP and financial statement analysis, including forecasting and performance analysis.
• Advanced Excel modeling and analytics.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to present insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency in English; experience with large datasets, BI tools, AI-enabled analytics or data automation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance Power BI models, dashboards, and reporting solutions used to analyze business performance and explain financial variances.
• Design and develop new Power BI reporting solutions for stakeholders across finance, operations, and executive leadership.
• Become a subject matter expert in budgeting and forecasting systems, supporting data integrity and processes for accurate financial planning.
• Partner with FP&A colleagues to identify process improvement opportunities and implement data-driven solutions that increase efficiency and insight generation.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to strengthen data quality, governance, and stewardship practices.
• Support recurring and ad hoc analysis, reporting requests, and business performance reviews.
• Leverage analytics, automation, and emerging technologies to improve financial reporting and decision-making processes.

Senior FP&A Data Analyst

As a Senior FP&A Data Analyst, you will play a key role in helping our Corporate FP&A team transform complex financial and operational data into actionable business insights. Working at the intersection of finance, data analytics, and business strategy, you will help identify the key drivers behind financial performance and forecasts across a global energy business. This is an exciting opportunity to work with large datasets, advanced analytics, AI-enabled tools, and Power BI solutions to support strategic decision-making. You will collaborate with colleagues across finance, operations, commercial teams, and senior leadership while contributing to the growth and transformation of a dynamic organization in the global power sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with FP&A colleagues to identify process improvement opportunities and implement data-driven solutions that increase efficiency and insight generation.


• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to strengthen data quality, governance, and stewardship practices.


• Support recurring and ad hoc analysis, reporting requests, and business performance reviews.


• Leverage analytics, automation, and emerging technologies to improve financial reporting and decision-making processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing and maintaining Power BI data models, dashboards, and reporting solutions.


• Experience working with planning and forecasting platforms such as BPC, Anaplan, Oracle, SAP, or similar tools.


• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial statement analysis, including forecasting and performance analysis.


• Advanced Excel modeling and analytical capabilities.


• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.


• Proficiency in English.


• Experience working with large datasets, business intelligence tools, AI-enabled analytics, or data automation solutions is a plus.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, Economics, or a related field.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $105,000 and $131,325/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes annual bonus. The benefits offered for this position are: medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, 401(k) eligibility, and paid time off (including vacation, sick leave time, and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
