Job summary

Schneider Downs is seeking a Senior FP&A professional to partner with practice unit leaders, drive budgeting and forecasting, and support month-end close at our Pittsburgh office. You will build and maintain dashboards in Power BI and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver actionable financial insights.

The role emphasizes strategic analysis, scenario planning, and presenting results to senior leadership, with a hybrid work model and opportunities for mentorship and career growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in FP&A or corporate finance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency with complex models and sustainable reporting formats.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with practice unit leaders to provide analysis and decision support to achieve firm goals and financial objectives.
  • Support month end close reporting and analysis.
  • Own the annual budget process end-to-end with practice unit leaders; shift from top-down to bottoms-up model.

What You’ll Do
  • Along with the Senior Manager, FP&A, serve as a key business partner with practice unit leaders to provide analysis and decision support to enable the achievement of firm goals and financial objectives
  • Support month end close reporting and analysis
  • Partner with the Senior Manager, FP&A to own the annual budget process end-to-end, moving from a top-down approach to a bottoms-up model built and maintained in partnership with practice unit leaders
  • Work with practice unit leaders to develop and maintain quarterly forecasts
  • Support firm-wide reporting requirements by building reports that meet stakeholder needs Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI
  • Maintain the firm’s long-term financial model, updating and creating various scenario options
  • Conduct financial modeling and scenario analysis to support investments and new business initiatives
  • Support the leadership team in the preparation of regular shareholder, board and firm meeting materials
  • Provide exceptional internal customer service and build strong relationships across departments
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, exhibiting executive presence in interactions with senior leadership and practice unit leaders
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Minimum of three years of experience in FP&A or corporate finance
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including the ability to build and maintain complex models and to consolidate data from disparate sources into succinct, sustainable reporting formats
Preferred
  • Experience with Power BI or other visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) for advanced business intelligence and information reporting
  • Experience with FP&A software (e.g., Vena, Datarails, Workday Adaptive Planning)
  • Experience serving as a finance business partner to senior leadership
  • Experience with FP&A/reporting system implementation
  • Experience building a bottoms-up budget or forecast model from the ground up
  • CPA and/or MBA designation
Other
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, and the ability to interpret and communicate complex financial data to senior leadership
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to succinctly and efficiently communicate complex topics
  • Proven ability to work independently and execute key deliverables with minimal oversight
  • Comfort operating with incomplete information, using sound judgment and prior experience to make decisions and drive alignment with leadership rather than waiting for direction
  • Understands the details, but able to operate and summarize information at a high level to provide leadership with the right information needed to make quick decisions
  • Strategic business mindset with the ability to think ahead about potential risks, opportunities and having the ability to understand or estimate financial and operational impacts
  • Advanced skills and proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience working with large data sets and disparate systems
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration, including with IT/Data teams
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
  • Experience leading projects and driving process improvements
