Job summary

Halliwell in Chicago, IL seeks a Senior Forensic Structural Engineer to join the Engineering Services team. Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois with 5+ years experience in forensic investigations, failure analysis and building evaluations is required.

You will assess commercial, institutional and industrial structures across the region, perform field investigations and produce detailed forensic reports, while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Licensed Structural Engineer (S.E.) in Illinois or eligible to obtain licensure.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in structural analysis, evaluation and design of buildings, bridges, or industrial facilities.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate the condition and potential causes of distress to structural buildings and facilities.
• Perform field investigations and structural analyses.
• Produce detailed forensic engineering reports, including findings and conceptual repair recommendations.
• Collaborate with engineers and construction consultants on forensic investigations.
• Receive mentorship from senior engineers while mentoring junior team members.
• Develop and maintain client relationships through project delivery and regional business development activities.

Halliwell is seeking an experienced Senior Forensic Structural Engineer to join our Engineering Services team in Chicago, Illinois.

This opportunity is designed for a licensed Structural Engineer (S.E.) with expertise in forensic investigations, structural failure analysis and building evaluations. You will assess commercial, institutional and industrial structures throughout the region while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary engineering team.

Candidates must hold (or be eligible to obtain) an Illinois Structural Engineer (S.E.) license.

Individual Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate the condition and potential causes of distress to structural buildings and facilities.
• Perform field investigations and structural analyses.

• Collaborate with engineers and construction consultants on forensic investigations.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years\' experience in structural analysis, evaluation and design of buildings, bridges, industrial facilities or similar structures.
• Bachelor\'s degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering, or Architecture.
• Master\'s degree is an advantage.

Technical Skills

• Experience with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using structural analysis software.
• Experience with CADD software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to perform field investigations, including climbing ladders, carrying inspection tools, stooping and kneeling.
• Approximately 15% travel.
