Job summary

The State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) seeks a Senior Criminalist for the DNA Database Department to lead laboratory analysis, data interpretation, and CODIS-related activities. The role requires a bachelor’s in a biological/chemical/forensic field with genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, and statistics coursework, and at least ten years of DNA analysis experience.

Typical duties include testifying in court, training, quality control, and maintaining FBI QA accreditation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biological, chemical, or forensic science with genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology and statistics coursework.
• Minimum of ten (10) years' DNA analysis experience in a forensic lab.
• Ability to complete required legal training and obtain Class III Law Enforcement Officer certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform DNA analysis of offender samples, interpret results, and perform peer reviews for CODIS import.
• Maintain adherence to FBI QA standards and accreditation.
• Provide expert testimony in court and participate in training and outreach as needed.
• Manage CODIS duties including specimen management, data entry, and match disposition.
