Job summary

The City of Henderson seeks a qualified Forensic Chemistry Supervisor to plan, direct, and coordinate the toxicology and seized drug units within the Police Department’s Forensic Laboratory. The role emphasizes leadership, method development, and ensuring laboratory compliance with accreditation standards.

Ideal candidates have extensive toxicology experience, strong supervisory skills, and expertise with instrumental analysis (GC/LC-MS, ELISA, FTIR).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Natural Science, Criminalistics, Toxicology or related field with chemistry coursework
• Five years of full-time lab experience with toxicology, drug chemistry and court testimony as an expert witness
• Experience with ISO/IEC 17025 or ABFT/ASCLD accreditation environments
• Experience developing SOPs, evaluating analytical methods and instrument troubleshooting

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of the Forensic Toxicology and Seized Drug Units.
• Supervise staff, provide training, performance evaluations, and development.
• Ensure quality systems, accreditation compliance, and report interpretation of forensic results.
