Job summary

Fort Wayne Community Schools is seeking a Senior Food Service Equipment Technician to lead maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and food service systems at the Nutrition Process Center.

You will manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs, coordinate projects, and ensure safe, reliable operation of automated production equipment and cook-chill systems. Strong CMMS and leadership experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus completion of an approved apprenticeship program and five years increasingly responsible experience in a lead capacity.
• Strong analytical, computer, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of methods, terminology, procedures, materials, requirements, processes and equipment in the field.
• Legally able to operate a motor vehicle.
• Experience developing and managing a preventive and predictive maintenance program, including use of CMMS or comparable work-order/asset-tracking software.
• Preferred: EPA Section 608 refrigeration certification and experience maintaining commercial or industrial food-production equipment, refrigeration systems, and automated or cook-chill production lines.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate projects and communications to meet Nutrition Services needs and assure smooth and efficient activities.
• Oversee and coordinate general maintenance and repairs at Nutrition Services; ensure proper installation, repair, adjustment and replacement of parts, components and fixtures.
• Receive, prioritize and coordinate response to work orders; develop, implement and schedule preventive maintenance; coordinate response to emergency HVAC & R system repairs.
• Inspect Nutrition Services buildings, facilities, equipment and utilities to determine maintenance needs; plan and schedule maintenance projects; verify work orders and specifications.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC & R systems and equipment; diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation of HVAC & R systems and related heating systems.
• Plan and participate in installation, adjustment, replacement and repair of kitchen equipment and related components.
