Job summary

The Judge Group is seeking a Product Developer / Food Scientist in the Greater Salem, OR area on-site. You will lead end-to-end product development from concept through commercialization, partnering with Operations, Quality, Sales, and Supply Chain.

Ideal candidates have a background in bakery and dessert product development, with experience scaling up from benchtop to production and managing labeling and cost targets. Competitive bonus and benefits included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Culinary Science, or related field; equivalent pastry and commercial formulation experience will also be considered.
• Minimum 3 years of product development or R&D experience within food manufacturing; bakery, pastry, frozen foods, or dessert experience preferred.
• Proven success taking products from concept to commercial production, with working knowledge of labeling regulations, ingredient functionality, food safety systems, and product costing.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end product development, including formulation, benchtop development, plant trials, commercialization, and ongoing product optimization.
• Drive scale-up and first production runs, troubleshooting formulation and process challenges to ensure successful commercialization.
• Manage product specifications, ingredient qualifications, labeling compliance, shelf-life validation, and cost targets throughout the development process.
