Job summary

Vita Food Products, Inc. is seeking a Production Manager to oversee the Production Department and ensure efficient operations while upholding quality and safety standards.

You will analyze needs, coordinate staff and equipment, and drive improvements in efficiency, costs, and yields across the plant. You will implement food safety programs (BRC), supervise hiring/training, and collaborate with Quality Control and Plant Manager to sustain high performance and compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the food industry.
• Knowledge of the fish industry and Vita Food products.
• Ability to supervise and motivate employees.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical skills to improve efficiency.
• Ability to plan and organize workflow.
• Proficient PC skills (spreadsheets and word processing).
• Maintenance of confidentiality.
• Ability to work well with staff and management.
• Ability to maneuver on wet floors; physical capability up to 50 lbs.
• HACCP Certification.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Management preferred.
• Bilingual is a plus.
• OSHA Training and GMP basics.

Responsibilities

• Oversee production and operation of the Production Department.
• Coordinate employees and equipment for maximum efficiency.
• Develop and implement Food Safety Fundamentals and BRC plan.
• Maintain records of production statistics and labor costs.
• Recommend methods to improve production and quality.
• Supervise hiring, training, scheduling and evaluations.
• Explain safety and quality standards and conduct investigations.
• Inspect materials for quality and quantity; document receipts.
• Participate in safety committee and ensure compliance with standards.
• Coordinate with Quality Control to maintain quality.
• Perform monthly inventory of materials and supplies.
• Maintain inventory of raw and packing materials.
• Monitor and maintain machinery for maximum output.
• Prepare samples for sales and coordinate packaging changes.
• Coordinate activities with Plant Manager.
• Provide coaching and training to employees.
• Perform other duties as required.
