Job summary

Nike Inc invites applications for a Senior Footwear Materials Designer (Flyknit). In this role, you will translate consumer insights into innovative knit concepts, lead flat-knit material development, and partner with color and graphics to advance Nike’s core athlete offerings.

Qualifications

Submit a creative design portfolio with technical flat-knitting skill.
Ideally 5+ years of relevant design experience.
Bachelor’s degree in design or related field; suitable combination accepted.
Creative experience across consumer segments and dimensions.
Digital design acumen with knit-relevant programs and design software (e.g. Creative Suite).
Cobbling and prototyping skills a plus; prototypes beyond a swatch.
3D design program experience is a plus.
Experience with presentation programs: Keynote, PowerPoint.
Positive, collaborative approach.
Ability to influence through teamwork and maintain passion for projects.
Open-minded and receptive to feedback and diverse perspectives.
Curious and adaptable to change.
Ability to see potential in each design challenge.
Understand project briefs and budgets; innovate within parameters.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Upper Systems team, manufacturing partners, and yarn vendors to ensure new structures meet Nike standards and align with aesthetics and performance.
Deliver clear, compelling material solutions for seasonal projects in line with creative direction and briefs.
Travel regionally and internationally for consumer and athlete insights, and factory visits.
Keep athlete and consumer voice central, considering wear tests and reviews to improve product at each stage.
Uphold high standards for quality and craft; adjust as needed to maintain standards.
Prepare tech packs, material briefs, and CADs that convey structures and color/build; adjust at sample stages.
Champion clarity in documentation, presentations, and reporting to support informed decisions, while following processes and sustainability goals.
