Job summary

Cirrus Aircraft is seeking an AD&D Systems Engineer - Advanced Flight Controls Staff to lead early-stage development of cutting-edge flight control systems. You will own ideation, requirements capture, simulations, and qualification activities across avionics, software, and propulsion interfaces.

You will work in a small, agile team, collaborating with Product Development, Certification, and Production to deliver safe, high-performance systems on a fast-paced schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (or related STEM discipline).
  • Master's degree in related discipline preferred.
  • 7+ years of aviation/aerospace or advanced product development experience.
  • Broad technical skillset related to aircraft and advanced flight control systems.
  • Proven track record in early product development from concept to prototype.
  • Strong leadership of small technical teams and projects.
  • Familiar with FAA certification processes and system safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Take technical ownership of advanced flight control systems from ideation through conceptual design to product paths.
  • Support a small team of engineers making quick, data‑driven decisions.
  • Develop and manage system level requirements across functional domains.
  • Engineer and refine requirements through stakeholder engagement and testing.
  • Create development plans for early exploration and validation.
  • Conduct trade studies and verification activities for architectures.
