Job summary

Griffon Aerospace seeks a senior Electrical/Avionics Hardware Engineer to own the spiral development of flight control hardware across our UAS portfolio. You’ll shepherd the hardware from concept through fielded sustainment, collaborating with firmware, software, airframe, and manufacturing teams.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in avionics hardware design, hands‑on testing, and a proven record of qualification or certification. U.S.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in electrical/avionics hardware design, development, or sustaining engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with flight control or embedded avionics hardware.
  • Experience taking hardware through qualification or certification processes.
  • Experience managing suppliers or vendors for critical electronic components.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering principles (FMEA, root-cause analysis, MTBF/MTBUR).
  • Proficiency with EDA/schematic tools (Altium, OrCAD) and PLM systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including customer-facing documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, analysis, and spiral development of flight control hardware and the avionics stack.
  • Own root-cause investigations and corrective actions for hardware issues; manage engineering changes.
  • Balance SWaP, redundancy, and reliability trade-offs for UAV requirements.
  • Collaborate with firmware, software, airframe, and manufacturing teams for integration.
  • Provide technical support to production, field service, and customer support teams.
  • Develop and execute testing plans for environmental, EMI/EMC, vibration, and thermal qualification.
