Job summary

The City of Roanoke is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician IV to perform skilled mechanical work on heavy and light power-driven equipment. This role also serves as an expert resource for guiding subordinate workers and diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, and servicing diesel and gasoline engines, air compressors, pump apparatus, and aerial truck hydraulics.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and 3–5 years of related experience or training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 3–5 years related experience and/or training in trades.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a crew of maintenance workers and technicians.
• Inspect work in progress to ensure conformance with instructions.
• Diagnose, adjust, repair and service power-driven equipment for the City.
• Operate heavy and light equipment including snow removal duties.
• Ensure safety procedures and regulatory compliance.
