Qualifications

  • This job requires knowledge of fleet management principles, practices, and procedures; intermediate level of business mathematics; ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing; ability to utilize personal computers, standard office equipment, and standard software applications; ability to organize work, establish priorities, meet establish deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimum direction.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and asset lifecycle management.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshoot utilizing automated diagnostic tools.
  • Maintain major component repairs, electrical systems controls, and preventative maintenance services to all GT state owned automobiles, trucks, and equipment.
  • Ensure the safe and proper operation of tools and power equipment adhering to prescribed safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Road tests vehicles and trucks upon completion of repairs to ensure proper functioning and safe operating conditions.
  • Perform inspections on automotive and mechanical equipment to identify repair needs and provide accurate cost estimates.
  • Work with Parts Specialist regarding shop inventory and equipment. Assist with department asset inventory and reconciliation.
  • Diagnose, repair, and overhaul vehicle systems including brakes, ignition, electrical, transmission, differentials, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
