Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA in Berkeley is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to craft reliable C/C++ code for our Battery Management System. You will collaborate with hardware and software engineers to design, implement, debug, and deploy firmware across controllers in our product.

The role emphasizes UL standards, embedded RTOS, power electronics, and robust testing. Candidates should have 3–5+ years of firmware experience and strong problem‑solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of firmware experience for embedded/RTOS in battery management or power electronics.
• Strong C/C++ for real‑time, multithreaded control applications.
• Fundamentals: bare‑metal/RTOS, fixed‑point math, interrupts, unit tests.
• Power control algorithms for PWM, current/voltage loops, observers and filters.

Responsibilities

• Derive software specs and design features to meet UL 1998/UL 5500.
• Create C/C++ embedded modules for sensor and actuator controls.
• Write hardware self‑test code for bring‑up and manufacturing software.
• Develop MCU firmware for embedded systems, sensors and power flow control.
• Contribute to unit/integration tests and collaboration with system/test teams.
• Support deployment and field troubleshooting to ensure performance.
• Write robust, maintainable embedded code following best practices.
• Lead complex debugging to resolve performance bottlenecks and defects.
• Adhere to formal software processes including version control and reviews.
