Job summary

huMannity Medtec seeks an experienced Senior Firmware Engineer to join the Firmware Engineering team and drive embedded medical device firmware from concept through validation in a regulated environment.

You will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and collaborate with hardware and software teams to deliver safe, reliable devices. Strong C/C++ and ARM Cortex‑M expertise are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of embedded firmware development experience using C/C++.
  • Hands-on experience with microcontroller firmware development, including ARM Cortex‑M platforms and BLE SoCs.
  • Strong understanding of electrical circuits, power systems, and sensor interfacing.
  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills across analog, digital, RF, and firmware domains.
  • Experience working within regulated design control environments.
  • Experience with configuration management, issue tracking, and problem resolution processes.
  • Strong technical documentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Firmware Engineer to join our Firmware Engineering team and support the development of innovative medical device technologies. This role participates in all phases of product development, from early concept and design through qualification, field testing, and clinical use. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership in firmware design and development, mentor engineers on best practices, and collaborate closely with hardware and software teams to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality products in a regulated medical device environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of electrical circuits, power systems, and sensor interfacing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing implantable medical devices, neurostimulation systems, or Class II/III medical devices.
  • Familiarity with IEC 60601, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, and safety-critical firmware development practices.
  • Experience with low-power wireless power transfer, coil systems, or RF technologies, including Bluetooth Low Energy.
  • Experience with automated unit testing frameworks such as Ceedling, Unity, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and implementation within regulated medical devices.
  • Experience with embedded real-time operating systems (RTOS), including FreeRTOS or Micrium.

Work Environment

  • Office and laboratory-based engineering environment.
  • Frequent collaboration with Software, Hardware, Systems, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams.
  • Participation in medical device product development from concept through commercialization.
  • Fast-paced environment supporting multiple concurrent projects.
