Job summary

SR2 in Oakland, CA is seeking a Senior Embedded Software & Firmware Engineer to own hands-on development for an aerial robotics platform. You will work on bare-metal firmware, embedded Linux, and real-time flight control from first power-up to production-ready systems.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of experience in C/C++, ROS/RTOS, and are comfortable working with NVIDIA Jetson modules, device trees, and CI/CD pipelines for embedded targets.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in embedded software/firmware.
• Proficient in C and C++ on resource-constrained/bare-metal systems.
• Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Jetson and embedded Linux.
• RTOS experience such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
• Strong grasp of serial protocols, HALs and memory-mapped I/O.

Responsibilities

• Write low-level drivers for sensors and actuators across I2C, SPI, UART, CAN and Ethernet.
• Develop real-time firmware for flight control with deterministic, low-latency performance.
• Set up, flash and provision NVIDIA Jetson compute modules, including secure boot.
• Bring up custom PCBAs and debug timing issues with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Customize Linux kernels and device trees for high-performance robotics workloads.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for embedded targets.

Compensation: Up to $240,000 + Equity (Flex for exceptional candidates)

A fast-growing, venture-backed autonomy startup is hiring a Senior Embedded Software & Firmware Engineer. They build both the hardware and software for their aerial robotics platform, and embedded engineering sits right at the heart of the product.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role spanning bare-metal firmware, flight control and embedded Linux. You'll take custom boards from first power-up through to production-ready systems.

What You'll Do

• Write low-level drivers for sensors and actuators across I2C, SPI, UART, CAN and Ethernet
