Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a talented Fire Protection Engineer to contribute to projects that protect lives and property while helping shape resilient and sustainable environments.

This role offers a hybrid work setup with offices nationwide. You will develop fire protection and life safety designs, perform code reviews, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with sales and clients on proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Travel 10% or less may be required.
• Experience with NFPA/UFC and life-safety design.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection designs including water supply, hydraulics, and systems layouts.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects; provide life safety and fire protection analysis.
• Review drafts for compliance with federal, state and local regulations; sign off on designs.
• Mentor junior staff and supervise engineers on project work.
• Collaborate with sales to prepare proposals and respond to RFPs.
