Job Details

National A&E firm needs a Sr. Fire Protection Engineer, P.E for their Orlando, FL office.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform engineering calculations and layout and design systems in accordance with established policies, standards, procedures, and codes.
  2. Apply practical knowledge and experience in the field to resolve problems and conflicts related to assigned projects.
  3. Make independent decisions for engineering tasks on assigned projects.
  4. Occasionally supervise subordinate personnel or assist other engineers or designers.
  5. Possess knowledge of discipline-specific codes and other building codes.
  6. Provide fire code consulting services, fire sprinkler design, fire alarm and detection system design, and smoke control system design.
  7. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Meet with the Project Engineer and Project Manager to discuss design scope, schedule, budget, phasing, site issues, and design review issues.
  9. Work with Project Manager and Project Engineer to prepare design budgets and schedules.
  10. Estimate discipline man-hours required to complete project design requirements.
  11. Provide leadership and assign design job functions to designated designers and supervise their efforts in completing the project on time and within budget.
  12. Implement system types as selected by the Project Engineer and provide complete construction documents that match client and project team requirements.
  13. Review preliminary and final engineering design with other disciplines for function, clearances, coordination, and final design selection.
  14. Perform a final review of the engineering drawings.
  15. Maintain client contact.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, Structural or Architectural Engineering.
  2. Minimum 8 years of work experience and must be a licensed engineer.
  3. Perform quality assurance on projects in coordination with technical manager or project engineer.
  4. Mentor and motivate Engineering designers I, II and III.
  5. Set high standards, maintain professional integrity, and seek the best interest of the company and client.
  6. Ability to meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality design.
  7. Additional duties as required.
