Job summary

Hialeah Fire Department seeks a qualified Fire Equipment Mechanic II for the Fire Administration Building. The role performs skilled preventive maintenance and repairs on emergency vehicles, including fire apparatus and related heavy equipment, across gasoline, diesel, and hydraulic systems.

Minimum five years as an EVT, ASE on fire apparatus and heavy equipment; IAFC certification preferred. Master Level III credentials and a Class A CDL with own tools are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of five (5) years as an EVT certified and ASE on light trucks and fire apparatus, and heavy equipment.
• IAFC Certification is preferred.
• Fire Apparatus Technician Master Level III required.
• Ambulance Technician Master Level III required.
• Valid Florida Driver's License with Class A CDL.
• Furnish own tools and repair equipment.
• A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum education.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and tests vehicles, diagnosing problems, and fixes issues on gasoline, CNG, and diesel-powered vehicles.
• Performs automotive maintenance and repairs from minor work to complete rebuilding.
• Troubleshoots engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems on fire apparatus.
• Provides roadside assistance and arranges towing as needed.
• Maintains maintenance records and updates work orders.
