Job summary

Modine Manufacturing Company in the United States seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for Finishing Systems. The role owns finishing processes (powder coat, E-coat, liquid UV top coat) and supports production with process stability, quality, and cross-functional engineering collaboration.

Responsibilities include optimizing pretreatment, coatings, and curing, defining process controls, and leading root-cause analysis of defects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Electrical preferred).
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with finishing systems.
• Hands-on experience with powder coating, E-coat, and liquid UV topcoat processes.
• Knowledge of pretreatment chemistries, bath control, rinse systems, spray application, film build, ovens, cure profiles, adhesion testing, and cosmetic appearance requirements.
• Ability to troubleshoot finishing defects and process variation using structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.
• Experience writing equipment specifications, process standards, work instructions, control plans, and validation documentation for finishing operations.
• Experience supporting installation, startup, and improvement of coating lines and equipment.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, APQP and cross-functional coordination.
• CAD software knowledge and Windows skills (Solid Edge, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for finishing systems (powder coat, E-coat, liquid UV top coat).
• Develop, optimize, and sustain finishing processes from pretreatment to inspection.
• Set and maintain process parameters (film thickness, temperature, line speed, cure).
• Lead troubleshooting for defects (orange peel, adhesion issues, runs).
• Coordinate installation, startup, commissioning, and validation of finishing equipment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve uptime and reduce scrap.
• Prepare specifications, standards, work instructions, and validation docs.
