Job summary

Transamerica is seeking an experienced modeling professional to build and analyze complex insurance and asset-liability models. You will leverage actuarial, financial, and data-science techniques to improve risk-adjusted returns and inform strategic decisions.

The role requires deep knowledge of financial instruments, derivatives, and ALM processes, plus collaboration across valuation, risk, and reporting teams in a hybrid office setting in Cedar Rapids and other locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical/quantitative discipline such as statistics, math, actuarial science, computer science, economics, engineering, or a related business field such as finance
• Five years of modeling experience (or three with Master’s) with expert knowledge in at least one product such as insurance liability, asset valuation, derivatives modeling, liquidity management, machine learning or AI
• Good understanding of investment and finance concepts and the ability to apply them to analytical problems

Responsibilities

• Support modeling activities on insurance liabilities, fixed-income assets and derivatives in actuarial systems (AXIS/ALFA/MoSes).
• Model and quantify risks including equity and interest rate sensitivities, cash flow variability, credit, liquidity, and alternative investments.
• Collaborate with stakeholders from valuation, ALM, risk management, and financial reporting.
• Embrace new technologies to improve workflows and build robust controls.
• Gather and analyze market data, calculate hedge program metrics, and simulate financial reporting processes.
• Apply and integrate statistical, mathematical, predictive modeling and business analysis skills on high-volume data.
