Job summary

El Camino Health Medical Network is seeking a Senior Financial Data Analyst to design and maintain financial dashboards, build models, and deliver planning frameworks across the organization. You will partner with provider operations and the accounting/provider compensation teams to interpret performance data and support growth in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

The ideal candidate has deep FP&A and reporting experience in healthcare, strong Excel and BI skills, and familiarity with revenue

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Health Administration, Data Science or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or BI roles, with at least 3 years in a healthcare provider setting.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting provider operations finance, including productivity reporting, professional fee revenue, and physician compensation modeling.
  • Proficiency with AI tools and vibe coding experience.
  • Hands-on experience with BI/visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare financial concepts: revenue cycle, wRVU-based productivity, payer mix, and net revenue.

Responsibilities

The Sr. Financial Data Analyst performs a variety of workpertaining toanalytics, business plans, preparation of budgets and financial statements,monitoringbudget variances,andpreparation of ad hoc reports.

Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and analytically driven Senior Financial Data Analyst to join our healthcare finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining financial dashboards, building financial models and forecasts, and delivering the financial reporting and planning frameworks that guide strategic decisions across the organization. You will serve as a key analytics partner to provider operations, helping the accounting/provider compensation team as well as service lines and care delivery teams understand their financial performance and plan for sustainable growth.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in financial reporting, FP&A, and reporting dashboard tools within a provider healthcare setting — with a strong understanding of the financial dynamics unique to physician practice economics and medical network operations. They communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using various AI tools
  • Build and optimize data models to support financial planning and revenue cycle reporting
  • Automate recurring financial reports and distribute to stakeholders on defined schedules
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all financial outputs and reporting pipelines

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

  • Lead the development of annual operating budgets, multi-year financial forecasts, and rolling projections across provider entities
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial packages including variance analyses, trend commentary, and executive-level summaries
  • Build and maintain financial models to support scenario planning, business cases, and strategic growth initiatives
  • Partner with operational and clinical leaders on budget-to-actual reviews, identifying drivers of performance and recommending corrective actions
  • Support long-range planning processes including capital expenditure analysis and new program financial feasibility
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close by producing management reports, journal entry support, and reconciliation analysis
  • Develop standardized financial reporting templates and reporting calendars to improve consistency and timeliness
  • Prepare financial presentations and narratives for senior leadership, board committees, and external stakeholders
  • Assist in external audit preparation and regulatory financial reporting as required

Provider Operations Analytics:

  • Serve as the primary finance analytics partner for various clinic managers
  • Analyze provider productivity metrics (wRVUs, visit volume) alongside financial performance to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Support provider compensation plan modeling, including productivity-based and value-based incentive calculations
  • Collaborate with practice managers to develop actionable financial insights that drive operational efficiency.

Performs other duties and special projects as assigned in support of department and organizational goals.

Data Management & Governance:

  • Partner with IT and data engineering teams to maintain accurate, well-documented financial data assets in the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues across source systems including Workday, Epsi, and Simplified
  • Maintain data dictionaries and standard definitions for key financial and operational metrics

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Health Administration, Data Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or BI roles, with at least 3 years in a healthcare provider setting (health system, hospital, physician group, or multispecialty practice)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting provider operations finance, including productivity reporting, professional fee revenue, and physician compensation modeling
  • Proficiency with AI tools and vibe coding experience
  • Hands-on experience with BI/visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare financial concepts: revenue cycle, wRVU-based productivity, payer mix, and net revenue
  • Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling, pivot tables, and complex formula development
  • Experience building and maintaining budgets, forecasts, and variance reporting in a healthcare finance environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or Finance;
  • Experience with Epic, Workday Adaptive Planning, or similar healthcare ERP/EPM systems
  • Familiarity with Python for financial modeling automation and data analysis
  • Prior experience in a medical center or multi-site physician group
