Job summary

Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation—Woodbridge, NJ—seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Corporate FP&A team. This role blends traditional FP&A with data-driven reporting and executive-level visuals to illuminate performance drivers.

You will support capital management, develop dashboards, and partner with multiple teams to deliver insights for senior leadership. This position offers visibility to senior leaders and broad business exposure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics or another quantitative discipline.
  • 3-5 years of FP&A, corporate finance, or a similar finance role.
  • Advanced Excel skills with large datasets and complex analyses.
  • Working knowledge of SQL to query, manipulate and reconcile data; willingness to develop more advanced SQL skills.
  • Working knowledge of Tableau with interest in developing dashboarding capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication to present to senior executives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to derive conclusions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with recurring deliverables.
  • Insurance industry experience in property and casualty preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial and operating results to identify trends and explain variances for performance.
  • Support quarterly enterprise metrics reporting to senior management, including new exhibits and ad hoc analyses.
  • Assist capital adequacy analysis and forecasting, stress testing, and management reporting.
  • Perform financial modeling and deep-dive analyses for senior leadership with clear conclusions.
  • Maintain accurate enterprise reporting through consistent metric definitions and controls.
  • Extract, reconcile and analyze data using SQL and AtScale; create dashboards with Tableau or similar BI tools.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, Corporate Finance, Product, Actuarial, IT and other teams for recurring reports and strategic needs.
  • Identify opportunities to automate recurring processes and reporting through data and tech.

Job description

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Financial Analyst to join our Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. This is a highly visible role that combines traditional FP&A responsibilities with business analytics and data-driven reporting, regularly moving between financial analysis, business problem solving, data reconciliation, and the development of executive-level reporting and visualizations. This position offers significant exposure to senior leadership and provides opportunity to develop a broad understanding of the financial and operational drivers of a property and casualty insurance organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze Business Performance: Analyze financial and operating results to identify trends, explain variances, and provide insight into the key drivers of company performance.
  • Enterprise Metrics Reporting: Support the preparation and analysis of quarterly performance reporting to senior management, including recurring updates, validation of key metrics, development of new exhibits, and ad hoc follow-up analyses.
  • Capital Management: Support capital adequacy analysis and other capital management initiatives including forecasting, stress testing, and management reporting.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Perform financial modeling and deep-dive analysis for senior leadership, developing clear conclusions around business performance, underlying drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Data & Reporting Stewardship: Help maintain accurate and reliable enterprise reporting through consistent metric definitions, data validation, documentation, and appropriate reporting controls.
  • Work with Data Tools: Extract, reconcile and analyze financial and operational data using SQL and AtScale cubes; develop clear dashboards and visualizations using Tableau or similar BI tools.
  • Partner Across the Organization: Work closely with FP&A, Corporate Finance, Product, Actuarial, IT and other business teams to support recurring reporting, strategic initiatives, and new analytical needs.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve and automate recurring processes, reporting, and analysis through better use of data, technology, and emerging tools.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics or another quantitative discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or a similar finance role.
  • Understanding of financial statements and the ability to connect financial and operating results to underlying business performance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with demonstrated proficiency working efficiently with large datasets, financial models, and complex analyses.
  • Working knowledge of SQL to query, manipulate and reconcile data; willingness and aptitude to develop more advanced SQL skills.
  • Working knowledge of Tableau with an interest in developing more advanced dashboarding and visualization capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to synthesize complex analysis into clear takeaways and confidently communicate findings to senior executive audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate discrepancies, work through unfamiliar problems, and develop well-supported conclusions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage recurring deliverables and ad hoc requests across multiple priorities.
  • Intellectual curiosity, initiative, and demonstrated ability to learn new business concepts, analytical tools, and technologies.
  • Property and casualty insurance industry experience is preferred but not required.
SALARY RANGE

The pay range for this position is $94,000 to $123,500 annually. Actual compensation will vary based on multiple factors, including employee knowledge and experience, role scope, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
