Job summary

Performance Food Group in Augusta, Maine, seeks a Senior Finance Manager to lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting across the operating company. You will partner with senior leadership to translate strategic initiatives into measurable financial outcomes and drive profitability and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience including FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, business analysis, and operational finance
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience managing and developing professional teams and leading through change
  • Experience leading annual budgeting, forecasting, Annual Operating Plan (AOP), and long-range planning processes
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, audit processes, and SOX compliance requirements
  • Experience presenting financial results to senior leadership and influencing decision-making
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Power BI or similar BI tools
  • Advanced financial modeling and forecasting skills
  • Ability to travel as needed to support regional operations

Responsibilities

  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and AOP processes.
  • Deliver accurate monthly financial reporting, analysis, and performance metrics.
  • Oversee monthly close ensuring GAAP, SOX compliance and data integrity.

Position Summary

The Senior Finance Manager is a strategic leadership role within the Operating Company responsible for driving financial performance, business planning, and operational decision support across the organization. This position leads financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, monthly close, and business performance reporting while serving as a trusted advisor to executive and operational leadership.

The Senior Finance Manager provides leadership and oversight for the Finance functions and partners closely with business leaders to translate operational strategies into financial outcomes, identify opportunities for growth and efficiency, and support data-driven decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Finance Leadership
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to OpCo Leadership, Corporate Senior Finance Manager, the Regional President, and other senior leaders.
  • Provide financial leadership and decision support to drive profitable growth, operational excellence, and strong business performance.
  • Develop and communicate financial insights, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to support executive decision-making.
  • Translate operational strategies and initiatives into measurable financial outcomes and business value.
Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) processes.
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis, and performance metrics.
  • Conduct monthly business reviews with executive leadership, highlighting trends, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
  • Lead customer profitability analysis and other strategic financial evaluations to support commercial and operational decisions.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support regional and senior leadership needs.
Financial Operations & Controls
  • Lead the monthly close process and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, company policies, and internal control requirements
  • Identify financial risks, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities; partner with leaders to drive corrective actions and accountability.
  • Internal audit ownership
Leadership & Talent Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing Accounting, Bid/Contract and IT teams.
  • Establish clear priorities, expectations, and development plans that support individual and organizational success.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer-focused service.
  • Build organizational capability through effective talent development, coaching, and succession planning.
Continuous Improvement & Business Transformation
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and leverage technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Champion data-driven decision-making, process improvement, and technology-enabled solutions.
  • Partner with operational leaders to support Shrink and Service Excellence initiatives that enhance profitability, execution, and customer satisfaction.

And other duties as assigned. This position is a full time, in office position in Augusta, Maine.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field required

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, audit processes, and SOX compliance requirements
  • Experience identifying financial risks, driving corrective actions, and partnering with business leaders to improve operational and financial performance
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a strategic business partner to executive leaders and influence decision-making across finance and operations
  • Experience presenting financial results, trends, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership teams
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, financial reporting platforms, and advanced use of Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence tools
  • Advanced financial modeling, analytical, forecasting, and business performance management skills
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive process improvement initiatives, and implement technology-enabled solutions
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable business recommendations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and accountability
  • Ability to travel as needed to support regional operations and business initiatives
Preferred qualifications:
  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification.
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations, distribution, foodservice, supply chain, or logistics environments
  • Experience leading business transformation, process improvement, systems implementation, or technology-enabled initiatives
  • Prior leadership across multiple disciplines
  • Customer profitability and contract/bid experience
