Job summary

BP is seeking a senior financial leader to partner across the refinery business in the United States. The role focuses on driving margin, cost, and capital efficiency through structured interventions and a formal Vulnerabilities and Opportunities process.

You will act as a trusted partner to senior superintendents and budget holders, linking operations with FP&A to optimize value end-to-end and support the annual plan delivery. Previous refinery and matrix leadership experience is valued.

Qualifications

  • Experience in planning, analyzing, or managing performance to deliver business goals.
  • Strong commercial and economic understanding with experience developing business cases.
  • Experience in managing senior partners and delivering value in complex matrix environments.
  • Experience in capital-intensive or operational businesses (refinery experience preferred).

Essential experience

Individuals should have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Experience in planning, analyzing, or managing performance, including long-term planning, budgeting, forecasting, or tracking outcomes to support delivery of business goals.
  • Strong commercial and economic understanding, with experience developing business cases, evaluating investments, or supporting project delivery.
  • Experience in managing senior partners and delivering value in complex matrix environments
  • Broad understanding of how different processes and functions connect to deliver business outcomes and enable effective decision-making
  • Experience in capital-intensive or operational businesses, i.e. refinery experience preferred but not essential

  • Commercial acumen: Understands the operational and market drivers of performance, translating these into actionable insights to optimize margins, costs, and capital allocation. Identifies value creation opportunities and trade-offs aligned to broader business objectives.

  • Digital and transformation orientation: Leverages data, digital tools, and finance transformation approaches to enhance insight, improve efficiency, and support faster, more informed decision-making.

How much do we pay (Base)?

The anticipated base salary for this position is approximately between $145,000 and $180,000 USD annually, *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.

This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 - 240 hours of vacation per year for full times employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees).
