Job summary

Atoms in San Francisco is seeking an experienced vehicle test engineer to lead ADAS/AV validation on proving grounds and on public roads. You will own risk management, instrumentation, data collection, and reporting to safety-case teams, with on-site collaboration across hardware, software, and AI tooling.

Based in our San Francisco office, this on-site role requires regular travel to test routes. Competitive base pay with equity is offered as part of total rewards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on vehicle test engineering in ADAS/AV testing or OEM/Tier 1 environments.
• Experience with instrumented targets, RTK/GNSS ground truth, data acquisition and Python.
• Ability to execute published test procedures and assess safety and validity.

Responsibilities

• Plan and run scenario cases at proving grounds; translate case specs into test procedures.
• Run scenario cases on public roads with safety drivers and document outcomes.
• Own risk assessment for testing—site layout, exclusion zones, weather limits.
• Own instrumentation and ground truth: ego/target positions, timing, video/data acquisition.
• Write test reports for safety-case engineers with clear deviations and outcomes.
• Schedule proving grounds, calibrate test equipment, and manage third-party testers.
• Use AI tooling to draft procedures, check run validity, and generate reports.
