Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer or Senior Electrical Services Specialist to support our Tempe, AZ or San Antonio, TX locations. The role covers I&C on power distribution equipment at Hyper-Scale Data Center sites, including setting up networks, uploading programs, and integrating equipment.

Travel and on-site problem solving are expected. Required are 5+ years in electrical control, power distribution, and test practices; multiple advanced certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical control circuits.
• 5+ years of experience in installation/maintenance of Power Automation Switchboards.
• 5+ years of experience with electrical test sets for AC/DC high-pot testing and related power system tests.

Responsibilities

• Create test scripts and MOPs related to Data Centers Cx activities.
• Set up communication devices and topology of industrial networks; upload HMI/PLC programs; install I/O and CPUs.
• Integrate 3rd party EPMS; conduct initial testing, operation, troubleshooting and modification of equipment.
• Test MV/LV circuit breakers and switchgear; analyze results and perform equipment testing.
• Provide on-site assistance with programming, start-up, commissioning, and validation; train customers.
• Prepare reports and closeout documentation; assist with job site final walk-through.
• Respond to emergency and relief assignments.

Senior Field Service Engineers or Senior Electrical Services Specialists are responsible for the I&C on our power distribution equipment at our Hyper-Scale Data Center sites. Scope includes, but not limited to, setting communication devices and topology industrial networks, uploading HMI/ PLC programs, installation of I/O and CPUs, integration of 3rdParty EPMS, initial testing, operation, troubleshooting and modification of customer equipment and systems including MV/LV switchgear, transformers, metering, power monitoring, power quality, and protective relays.

As a Senior Field Service Engineer or a Senior Electrical Services Specialist, you will:

• Create test scripts and MOP (Methods of Procedures) related to Data Centers Cx activities.
• Setting communication devices and topology industrial networks; uploading HMI/ PLC programs; installation of I/O and CPUs
• Integration of 3rd Party EPMS; initial testing, operation, troubleshooting and modification of customer equipment and systems
• MV or LV Circuit breakers; metal clad/vacuum switchgear; breakers or LV equipment testing; analyzing test results
• Equipment Condition Assessments
• Electrical Control Circuits Troubleshooting & Repair
• Provide on-site assistance with or perform programming, start-up, checkout, commissioning, and validation processes. Participate in job site final walk-through, complete all job closeout documentation, and provide customer training. Act as technical resource to customers and field employees
• Provide instructions to customer personnel regarding proper operation and routine inspections. Train customers to maintain and adjust complex equipment. Provide expert advice, training, and technical assistance to support staff and train lower-level employees. Complete and submit reports covering all job activity. Responsible for maintaining complex tools, test equipment, calibration items, etc.
• Must be available to respond to emergency and relief assignments.

For Field Service Engineers only:

• Plan and estimate labor categories, rates, material dollar costs, and transportation expenses to complete complex proposals. Perform review of complex task plans, drawings, and installation schematics; provide continual guidance throughout the project duration. (FSE only)
• Perform and supervise preliminary and detailed site audits to develop design concepts and schematics.
• Perform Site Lead activities during the cycle of the client’s construction schedule, when required.

You will make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical control circuits and ability to obtain thermography certification
• 5+ years of experience in the installation and/or maintenance of Power Automation Switchboards
• 5+ years of experience using electrical test sets to perform AC and DC high potential testing, transformer turns ratio testing, transformer power factor testing, and other power system test practices and procedures

Must be able to demonstrate:

• Skills at interpreting protective coordination studies and testing and configuring protective relays
• Capability to read bills of material, electrical blueprints, and power system study reports
• Experience with the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of low and medium voltage power distributions systems
• Familiarity with the arc flash and shock hazards of 13.8 kV and the following electrical equipment: Siemens GIS, AIS, WL, RL, and SB breakers and switchgear
• Familiarity with ANSI, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and NETA codes and standards
• Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with limited violations; must meet eligibility requirements to participate in Siemens’ fleet vehicle program
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree – preferably EE/ME
• AVO, NETA, and NICET certifications

The pay range for this position is $91,463 – $156,794 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
