Job summary

Techno Consult Engineering, PC (Techno) is seeking a Senior Inspector to support transportation and infrastructure construction across Long Island, Nassau and Suffolk counties. The role focuses on overseeing field activities on complex roadway, bridge, and civil improvement projects in urban and suburban areas.

You will supervise site inspection operations, coordinate with field and office teams, ensure compliance with NYSDOT standards, and mentor junior inspectors.

Qualifications

• NICET II/III or related degree in civil engineering or construction management.
• 8+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation or infrastructure projects.
• Experience with NYSDOT Region 10 projects preferred.
• Knowledge of NYSDOT specs, standards, and documentation.
• ACI Grade I concrete testing certification preferred.
• Experience with roadway, bridge, drainage, utilities, and traffic control scopes.
• Ability to read plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Strong communication across contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily inspection operations on active construction sites to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Monitor contractor activities, including materials, methods, and sequencing.
• Prepare and maintain detailed daily reports of labor, equipment, quantities, and site conditions.
• Track installed quantities and support payment verification.
• Coordinate with field and office teams on RFIs and ongoing activities.
• Identify non-conforming work and document resolution steps.
• Support site safety by monitoring conditions and enforcing safety protocols.
• Provide direction to junior inspectors to ensure consistent reporting.
• Participate in project meetings and offer field insights for progress decisions.
