Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Public Health seeks a senior epidemiologist to lead the Field Epidemiology unit under the CDES Director. This role directs surveillance, outbreak investigations, and cross-agency collaboration to protect public health.

Responsibilities include coordinating Epi investigations, improving surveillance capabilities, and supporting emergency preparedness and response. A master's in public health or related field is required, with at least five years in program

Qualifications

• Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a closely related field.
• MD or PhD may substitute for experience.
• At least five years in public health program management with three years in supervision.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of Field Epidemiology unit and program managers.
• Coordinate outbreak response activities and Epi investigations.
• Review surveillance data collection and improve core Epi capabilities.
• Support emergency preparedness and participate in on-call rotation.
