Job summary
HNTB Corporation is seeking an experienced inspection and field coordination engineer to oversee construction activities on complex infrastructure projects in New Jersey. You will monitor contractor work, administer KPIs and budgets, review submittals, and act as a liaison between contractor and design staff.
You will lead field teams, perform on-site testing, prepare weekly progress reports, and mentor junior engineers while staying current with industry practices and new inspection
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 6+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's with 5+ years, or a Doctorate with 4+ years.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and monitor construction field work to ensure conformance to plans and specs.
- Administer KPIs and budget; interpret contract documents for compliance.
- Perform or supervise on-site material testing.
- Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements.
- Track quantities, prepare pay estimates and ensure procedures meet docs.
- Initiate field changes; identify discrepancies in documents.
- Review daily contractor reports for accuracy and consistency.
- Prepare weekly progress reports.
- Coordinate with Resident Engineer on progress, resolve issues, liaise with design staff.
- Stay current with industry tech and tools; use GPS/Rovers for efficiency.
- Assist change manager and project manager with disputes.
- Track RFIs and submittals; perform constructability reviews.
- Lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees.
- Monitor internal project controls as directed.
