Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking an experienced Emergency Call Handling Field Engineer for remote US-based work with heavy travel. You will configure, test, and cut production for on-premise and cloud-hosted ECH solutions, supporting customers and partners in deploying robust public-safety systems.

Responsibilities include cloud connectivity, documentation, and participation in migrations and upgrade methods, with emphasis on independent work and strong time management in a fast-paced deployment

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in deployment or integration of complex IP products and systems.
• Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Microsoft, CompTIA Network+ and Security+).
• Experience with cloud-based troubleshooting: connectivity, latency, and identity management (SSO/AD).
• Server virtualization expertise (RedHat KVM, VMware ESXi, Hyper-V).
• MS SQL Server 2008 R2/2012/2016 experience.
• Windows Server 2008R2/2012R2 administration and troubleshooting.
• Windows 10/11 administration and basic Linux knowledge.
• Networking gear: Cisco IOS switches; Fortinet FortiGate firewalls.
• Telephony knowledge for analog lines and PRI; basic AD account management.

Responsibilities

• Conducts site verification testing before production cutover.

Software Enterprise Deployment and Integration team

The Software Enterprise Deployment and Integration team is the team that delivers solutions to the public safety sector. We are committed to providing technology and tools which will allow customers to focus on their mission, and enable them to respond faster with smarter and safer decisions. We deploy and support products such as Emergency Call Handling, 911 Equipment, Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management Systems, Jail Management Systems and Mobile Data Computing, among other offerings.

Position Summary

The Emergency Call Handling (ECH) Field Engineer will report to the ECH Field Engineer Manager. The Field Engineer is ultimately accountable for the system being implemented based on the site design specifics, including the on-site configuration, testing, cut, and post-cut support for Motorola’s on-premise and cloud-hosted ECH solutions.

Location & Travel

This is a Remote position and candidates can be located anywhere in the US. There will be in excess of 75% travel US and International.

Responsibilities

• Performs system configuration for all supported and assigned ECH solutions, including hybrid cloud and SaaS-based applications.
• Performs site verification testing prior to cutting a site into a production environment.
• Configures and troubleshoots connectivity between local site infrastructure and cloud-hosted application environments.
• Provides support to Customer and Channel Partners while deploying the ECH solution into a production environment.
• Documents all changes to the solution, including cloud tenant configurations and API integrations, that may occur during the implementation phase of the project.
• Ensures that installation/quality issues are resolved in a timely and efficient manner.
• Participates in the development and approval of Methods of Procedure (MOP) for cloud migrations and system upgrades.
• Participates in pre-contract oral presentations and customer negotiations as required.
• Maintains subject matter expert skills in emerging cloud-native public safety technologies.

Experience & Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in the deployment or Integration of complex IP products and systems.
• ~ Relevant Cloud Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Certified: CompTIA Network+ AND Security+
• ~ Experience with Cloud-based application troubleshooting, including connectivity, latency analysis, and identity management (SSO/Active Directory).
• ~ Experience with installation, administration, and troubleshooting of: Server Virtualization, specifically with RedHat KVM, VMWare ESXi v.6+ and/or Microsoft Hyper-V 2012+.
• ~ Database Servers, specifically with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2\2012\2016.
• ~ Server Operating Systems, specifically Windows Server 2008 R2 and 2012 R2.
• ~ Workstation Operating Systems, specifically Windows 10 & 11.
• ~ Linux.
• ~ Network Switches, preferably with Cisco IOS.
• ~ Basic knowledge of Firewalls and Routers, preferably with Fortinet FortiGate
• ~ Candidate must possess telephony knowledge related to analog lines and PRI up to and including troubleshooting and physical configuration/termination
• ~ Candidate must possess basic Active Directory knowledge pertaining to account segregation and role assignments
• ~ Candidate must be able to operate independently utilizing various guides and remote support options
• ~ Candidate must be able to self‑manage time based on objectives and goal requirements as part of the deployment team
• ~ Candidate ideally should be familiar with virtual machine deployments and hosted systems, ESXI/KVM RedHat Candidate ideally should be familiar with Cisco switch configurations
• ~ Candidate must possess or be eligible for a US passport for international travel up to 75%
• ~ Previous experience in Public Safety Applications deployment and integration, and/or operations and administration preferred.
• ~ Target Base Salary Range: $90.000 - $100,000 USD

Education

• High School diploma, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or Technology.
• Must have 5+ years of experience working in an Engineering or Technical environment.

• S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.
