Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent required.
• Minimum five (5) years in a field-related role on large commercial projects.
• Strong communication skills across multiple levels of personnel.
• Ability to manage multiple demands simultaneously in dynamic site environments.
• Proficiency with plan reading, scheduling, and field documentation.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Windows OS, Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Familiarity with scheduling, estimating, and cost software.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee field operations ensuring adherence to plans and quality control procedures.
• Interpret designs and drawings for crafts, ensuring proper installation and measurements.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to maintain schedule and quality.
• Review submittals, shop drawings, and specifications for compliance.
• Prepare field reports, daily logs, RFIs, and as-built drawings.
• Support QA/QC with non-conformance reviews and corrective actions.
• Maintain safety programs and ensure OSHA compliance.

DESCRIPTION

Rudolph and Sletten is looking for a Senior Field Engineer who primarily committed to field operations. This includes working to ensuring plans and specifications are being adhered to with quality control measures implemented. Accurate and timely reporting of daily work, quantities and the associated documentation requirements needed. This position reports directly to the Project Manager, Field Supervision or other assigned supervisors.

RESPONIBILITIES

• Demonstrates understanding of standard concepts, practices and procedures within construction field.
• Interprets designs and drawings for crafts installing materials and qualifications
• Understands necessary control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials or equipment.
• Review submittals against specifications.
• Reviews mock-up and/or shop drawings and specifications.
• Understands subcontractor job specifications and scope of work.
• Able to coordinate with Subcontractors and Suppliers.
• Responsible for the review and maintenance of subcontractor non-compliance and coordinates with QA/QC.
• Verifies that all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings and specifications.
• Researches and resolves drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interference, and errors.
• Researches and proposes solutions to quality control issues.
• Creates and processes RFI’s.
• Prepares field design change requisitions and "as built" drawings, as required.
• Demonstrates schedule understanding in coordination with construction logistics and construction sequencing.
• Prepares and disseminates all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists describing work items to be done, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations, etc., to supervisor.
• Understands company’s quality control plan and takes weekly photos to document any quality control issues.
• Reviews and comments on viability of design as required.
• Conducts value engineering functions.
• Aware of target vs. actual productivity on self performed work.
• Sensitive to Environmental issues and management of them.
• Helps to create a safe work site and identifies job hazards to reduce danger.
• Understands company safety program and participates in safety inspections.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations to include health, safety, and welfare as appropriate.
• Participates in job walks and documents and reports findings.
• Understands PCO process and minimal ability in identifying PCO/change orders.
• Performs quantity takeoffs
• Understand the impacts of project performance on insurance and bond.
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge of discipline, construction technology, design, applicable codes standards, etc., required
• Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects.
• Good written and oral communications and team skills.
• Performs work tasks by receiving direction and then working independently with an interest in quickly learning and applying new skills and abilities.
• Analyzes and resolves construction process problems and issues and effectively communicates and interfaces with all levels of personnel.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management or four years’ experience in the construction management field of work; Minimum five (5) years of experience as an entry level Project Engineer working on projects in the field.
• Experience with large commercial projects; healthcare, higher education, corporate campuses, justice, science & technology is desired.
• Ability to communicate well with multiple levels of personnel

• Works well at project sites in the field environment
• Knowledge of plan reading required.
• Intermediate knowledge of Windows Operating Systems; Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD product line.
