Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech IV - Field Service) to perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment with limited supervision. The role offers opportunities to advance within the Service Department and emphasizes exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools with a high degree of independent judgment.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; maintain a clean, professional service vehicle.
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Perform other duties as needed.
