Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a field Compliance Inspector to perform inspections, testing, and maintenance on petroleum-related equipment at customer sites across Tacoma, WA. The role involves route-based travel, documentation of results, and mentoring junior staff.

The candidate should have at least four years of petroleum equipment experience, a HS diploma or GED, and be able to obtain API Safety Certification and state operator licenses shortly after hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background screening, and motor vehicle record check.
• Proficiency with basic computer skills including Microsoft Office products and ability to learn industry-specific software.
• Ability to work independently without constant direct supervision.
• Effective communication with customers, colleagues and supervisors.
• Minimum of 4 years' work experience with petroleum related equipment.
• On onboarding: API Safety Certification.
• State Class A and Class B Operator certifications within 30 days.
• PEI RP-300, RP-900 & RP-1200 online training within 45 days.
• New-to-the-Organization training (NTO) and NTI courses within 90 days.
• Tank monitor certifications and other manufacturer/regulatory training as required.
• Preferred: additional manufacturer courses (e.g., Red Jacket, Franklin Fueling, OPW, EMCO, Healy).
• Physical: lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stand 8–10 hours daily.

Responsibilities

• Obtain daily work assignments from dispatcher using CMMS.
• Drive service vehicle to customer locations on a predefined route.
• Prepare customer workspaces for inspection activities.
• Perform advanced inspections, testing, and maintenance on mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment.
• Enter test and certification results into PASS or Titan and other forms.
• Maintain company vehicle, parts inventory and testing equipment.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to Inspectors and Technicians.
