Job summary

Stantec is seeking an on-call Archaeologist with demonstrated experience in Ohio, Michigan, and adjacent states to lead archaeological field projects in the Great Lakes region. This role supports a growing cultural resources team for a leading environmental consulting firm and has the potential to become a full-time salaried position.

Field work will require travel and outdoor work, including Phase I surveys and monitoring.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in anthropology/archaeology or related field; or a Bachelor’s degree with field lead approval where required.
Minimum 5 years and preferably 10 years of archaeological field work experience.
Experience leading and managing field crews; knowledge of NHPA and state laws.

Responsibilities

Lead field projects and field direction for cultural resource investigations for diverse clients and sectors.
Manage and supervise field work for Phase I surveys and construction monitoring.
Plan and execute complex projects and coordinate tasks among team members.
Participate in HSSE policies and standards in execution of work.
Provide supervision and mentoring to junior staff in the field.
Develop creative, effective, and economical solutions to project issues.
