Roche is seeking a Senior Field Applications Specialist – Tissue Diagnostics in the Cleveland, OH area. You will serve as the primary liaison during implementation, perform on-site advisory support, and tailor training to customer needs while leveraging Roche solutions to improve workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Medical Technology/IT/CS/Chemistry/Biology or related field.
  • 3+ years of implementing and evaluating complex laboratory/IT products, diagnostic equipment, reagents or systems.
  • Histology knowledge (HT/HTL/CT) preferred.
  • Experience with Roche Discovery products and clinical/lab environments.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary liaison and customer representative during implementation and training.
  • Provide on-site advisory support for Roche Tissue instrumentation and customized customer training.
  • Advise on customer issues and drive efficiencies for both customer and Roche.
  • Identify opportunities for new system consumables and increase sales revenue.
  • Travel within Northern Ohio/Cleveland territory and across the Eastern US up to 75% overnight.

As a Senior Field Applications Specialist – Tissue Diagnostics you will:

  • Act as the primary liaison/customer representative throughout the implementation process and future histology application support, including planning and coordination for the implementation and customer training, as well as problem‑solving issues that arise for customers throughout the life cycle of the solution.
  • Provide highly visible, self‑supervised and self‑directed, extensive on‑site advisory customer support through the implementation of Roche Tissue instrumentation and tailored customer training on our Roche solutions to meet customer needs based on an individualized assessment of the customer’s personnel, organizational structure, workflow, and maximization of equipment capabilities, which may include equipment, applications, systems, and IT solutions.
  • Act as an advisor on customer issues and drive efficiencies & optimization for the customer and Roche through independent analysis and problem‑solving.
  • Additionally be responsible for increased sales revenue by identifying opportunities for new system consumables for clients (i.e. reagents, primary antibodies, bio‑markers, software).
  • Perform these job duties remotely and independently.
  • Utilize independent judgment and discretion in the analysis of customer particularised needs and issues that arise both during and after the implementation process, and adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of the position.
  • Independently analyze and resolve most customer questions and problems and refer only the most complex issues to higher levels.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the quality system and achieve quality objectives through daily actions.
  • Provide support and share knowledge/mentor other Field Applications Specialists and Engineers throughout the Path Lab support organization.
  • Provide technical consultation to Sales partners and be recognized as a technical expert amongst peers, Roche Support Network leadership, and stakeholders within the broader Roche Diagnostics organization.
  • Takes on tasks and/or participates in projects aimed at improving internal processes, workflows, systems, both within the Path Lab support organization and across the Roche Support Network.
  • Serve in a field‑based role – the territory is Northern Ohio / Cleveland, primarily providing support to large reference labs/high volume testing sites in the assigned territory. Travel across the Eastern United States is also possible to support similar activities at other customer sites. Daily travel is required and up to 75% overnight.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology or Clinical Laboratory or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+years of experience implementing and evaluating complex laboratory, IT products, medical diagnostic equipment, reagents and/or systems.
  • Education or experience in Histotechnology; HT, HTL or CT Certification preferred.
  • Experience with Pharma, Academia and research with Roche Discovery products.
  • Ability to learn and remain current on Roche solutions across various fields, including histology and discovery ultra.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with project management experience.
  • Strong customer consultative skills, including advanced scientific knowledge, exceptional customer engagement, and ability to foster strong customer relationships.
  • Experience using Roche automated staining platforms (IHC, Special Stains, H&E) and Digital Pathology solutions in a clinical laboratory environment.
  • Experience mentoring and training less experienced team members.
  • Experience coordinating resources and timelines for projects, implementations, and work plans across multiple teams.
  • Experience documenting troubleshooting and resolution efforts in electronic case management system(s) according to quality and regulatory standards (ALCOA).
  • Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting; candidate must reside within the Cleveland area.
Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Ohio is $63,800–$118,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job‑related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
