Job summary

Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking a Security Specialist to secure personnel, facilities, and information. The role requires handling classified materials and coordinating advanced security programs in a DoD-aligned environment.

You will support security inspections, manage PerSec and OPSEC, and work with SIMS and DoD systems such as DISS/NBIS/NISS. This on-site position offers a challenging, service-driven workplace in State College, PA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Security, Risk Management/Analysis, Criminal Justice, Military Science, or Business Administration.
• Experience handling sensitive or classified materials is required.
• Proficiency with MS Office, databases, and web applications is essential.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee advanced security programs (Counterintelligence, Insider Threat, PerSec, COMSEC, OPSEC) and physical security systems like access control and CCTV.
• Assist in developing and managing security practices, procedures, trainings, and briefings in compliance with policies.
• Provide responsive security support and excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
• Work autonomously in a busy, service-driven setting.
• Handle intake of complex collateral security matters and determine appropriate processes.
• Represent ARL in security inspections and oversight by USG agencies.
